This is What it Really Feels Like to Have Restless Legs Syndrome
Hi, my name is Liberty, and if there is an unusual or unexplainable health issue, there is a good chance that I have it or have at the very least Googled it.
If you have ever had bloodwork done and everything looks normal, but you still have strange symptoms, then you know what I'm talking about. Let me tell you about the most irritating issue that I've dealt with my entire life.
What is Restless Legs Syndrome?
I'll start with the textbook definition from the Mayo Clinic:
Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a condition that causes a very strong urge to move the legs. The urge to move usually is caused by an uncomfortable feeling in the legs. It typically happens in the evening or at night when sitting or lying down. Moving eases the discomfort for a short time.
How Restless Legs Distrupts My Daily Life
"You just need a good night's sleep." That would help a lot of my other health issues, but RLS is basically stealing my sleep. It doesn't just start at night. There are plenty of mornings that I can't sit still at work, but not in a fidgety way. It feels like my legs will explode if I don't move or stretch. So weird, right?
My case of Restless Legs makes sitting in a theatre uncomfortable, and road trips can almost drive me crazy. Just walking around doesn't fix the issue for me.

The Unpredictability of RLS
I don't experience RLS every day, but I can't predict when it's going to happen. Any type of precipitation does make it worse. In fact, incoming weather makes my whole body ache. It's not just my legs, my hands and arms like to make me crazy too.
What About Supplements?
I take magnesium and sometimes that helps. Prescriptions that I've tried make me too tired to function. There is an all-natural supplement that helps, but not all of the time.
So, if you have RLS you are not alone, and you're not crazy.
