#PawtrolWednesday Officer Royale Marfil and Bolo

What started as a simple initiative by the Hopkinsville Police Department (HPD) and Christian County Animal Shelter in October has blossomed into a super sweet story of companionship and community bonding. The #PawtrolWednesday program, initially designed to foster collaboration between law enforcement and the local animal shelter, took an unexpected twist when Bolo, a lovable pitbull mix, made a one-day visit that would change his life forever.

Bolo found more than just temporary shelter; he found his fur-ever home with the men and women of the Hopkinsville PD. Since that fateful day, Bolo has not only become a beloved member of the department but he also accompanies Officer Royale Marfil to visit libraries and schools.

Always ready to offer a comforting embrace, Bolo has become the go-to for a "hug break" during hectic days. His presence has had a remarkable impact on the morale of the HPD, fostering a paw-sitive and uplifting atmosphere.

The highlight of Bolo's journey took place during a Hopkinsville City Council meeting when he was officially sworn in as HPD's first Paw-trol Officer. Mayor JR Knight presided over the ceremony, officially welcoming Bolo into the ranks of the police force. The oath-taking ceremony marked a unique and heartening moment, symbolizing the department's commitment not only to the safety of the community but also to the well-being and inclusion of its four-legged members.
