New Year, New City, New Thrift Adventure ️

Okay Evansville — you already know how I like to start the year… strong. For me, that meant finally hitting a thrift store for the first time since moving here. And of course, I had to document it because I know some of you would appreciate this.

Why Thrifting Will Always Be Elite

Thrifting is just cool. You can find name-brand clothes for cheap that are still in great condition, AND you can score unique pieces no one else has. It’s been a hobby of mine for years, and I recommend it to anyone trying to pick up a new hobby, so it felt long overdue to have my first official Evansville thrift run.

Starting With the Bins… and Quickly Pivoting

My first stop was a Goodwill with bins, and I’m not going to lie, you really have to be in the right mindset for that. The bins can be intimidating, and that day I was absolutely not in the mood. So I pivoted and headed to another Goodwill instead, which ended up being much more my speed.

The Thrill of the Find

I spent about an hour — maybe an hour and a half going through racks (which any thrifter knows is totally normal). And it paid off. I walked out with two jackets that scream my personality, three hoodies, a sweater, and three pairs of name-brand jeans that fit like a glove.

The Jeans That Blew My Mind

Here’s the part that still gets me. I was just in Nashville at an outlet mall where the cheapest Lucky Brand jeans I saw were around $80. I found a pair here in Evansville — my size, no stains... for $12.99.

Then there was another pair I grabbed without recognizing the brand. After getting home and doing some research, I found out they were Hudson jeans that retail for about $195. I paid $10.99. I also scored American Eagle jeans for the same price and we all know that’s not happening at the mall.

Evansville, You Passed the Thrift Test

Safe to say, Evansville absolutely delivers when it comes to thrifting. I’m officially hooked and can’t wait to check out more local spots.

So now I need your help — what thrift stores should I hit next?

Things Goodwill Doesn't Want You to Donate

Goodwill has always had an impossibly solid business model... People give their stuff to them for free. Goodwill sells it in-store and online. Instant profits... but there is a limit to what they will accept on the back dock. Here's a quick rundown of what Goodwill might turn away.
