Evansville Restaurant Owner Offers Free Buffet to Linemen, First Responders, and Ice Storm Victims
This week, Southern Indiana faced a crippling ice storm that left more than 62,000 residents without power at its peak. CenterPoint Energy crews worked tirelessly to tackle extensive damage caused by downed trees, broken poles, and damaged lines. Despite their round-the-clock efforts, the aftermath has been challenging for many.
In the heart of this icy chaos, a local hero has stepped up to lend a helping hand. Dontae Hines, owner of Dontae’s Pizza Parlor on Kratzville Road in Evansville, is known for giving back to the community throughout the year. But today, his generosity is on full display.

Free Buffet for Linemen, First Responders, and Displaced Residents
Dontae’s Pizza Parlor, in partnership with K & W Premier Heating and Air, is hosting a free buffet today, January 9, 2025, from 11 AM to 8 PM. The event is a heartfelt "thank you" to the linemen and first responders who have been working grueling 16-hour days in the cold to restore power and safety to the region.
“We are so thankful for their hard work and dedication to this community,” Dontae shared. “This is just a small way to show our appreciation.”
The buffet isn’t just for crews—it’s also open to anyone still without power, displaced from their homes, or simply in need of a warm meal and friendly atmosphere.
Community Gratitude Shines Through
Local resident Ashley West expressed her appreciation: “On behalf of my husband, thank you for showing this kindness. These workers have been missing their families while giving everything to help us. This gesture means so much.”
