‘Steel Magnolias’ Returns to Theatres in KY and IN to Celebrate 35th Anniversary

It's hard to believe, but the big screen version of Steel Magnolias is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and it's coming back to theatres around the U.S. If memory serves me correctly, I saw the movie the night it opened on November 22nd, 1989. To this day, I still recite lines from it. I think my all-time favorite line comes from Daryl Hannah's "Annelle." The line? "Ms. Truvy, I promise that my personal tragedy will not interfere with my ability to do good hair."

Of course, there are plenty of other great one liners in the film. Here's a sample!

I am huge fan of the movie and the women in it. Just last December I flew to Louisiana and visited Natchitoches, the amazing town where Steel Magnolias was filmed. It was really fun walking through some of the movie's most famous landmarks.

Fans of the movie are going to love this news! Fathom is bringing Steel Magnolias back to theatres for several 35th anniversary events. There will be showings at select cinemas on Sunday, May 5th and Wednesday, May 8th.

Here's a look at where you can catch M'Lynn (Sally Field), Truvy (Dolly Parton), Shelby (Julia Roberts), Annelle (Daryl Hannah), Clairee (Olympia Dukakis) and Ousier (Shirley MacLaine) in western Kentucky and southern Indiana.
