Wawa Opens First Indiana Stores in May 2025

Popular East Coast convenience store and gas station, Wawa is coming to the Hoosier State with three new stores opening this month. Here's everything we know.

Popular for its hoagies, WAWA first announced plans to expand into Indiana back in 2022. Since then, residents have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the convenience store chain.

Wawa’s Journey From Dairy Farm to Convenience Empire

Wawa is a one-stop shop for fuel, food, coffee, and more. The company first got its start as an iron foundry in New Jersey before owner George Wood found interest in dairy farming. Eventually, when home delivery for milk began to slow in the 1960s, Wood's grandson expanded the family dairy farm into a food market.

Wawa Serves Over a Billion Customers in More Than 1100 Stores

Currently, Wawa has over 1100 stores in ten states, plus Washington DC, employing 47,000 people. The chain serves over 1 billion customers, with more than 182 million cups of coffee brewed and more than 183 million built-to-order hoagies and sandwiches made each year.

Wawa Opening First of Ten New Indiana Locations in May

Here in Indiana, we're about to become the eleventh Wawa state. There are three brand-new Wawa stores set to open up in May, with the promise of dozens more in the coming years. Several of those new stores are expected to open before the end of 2025, according to the company.

In 2025, Wawa plans to open up to ten (10) stores in Indiana. In the future, Wawa plans to build and open 8-12 stores per year in Indiana with plans to open up to 60 stores in the state. To build each store, Wawa will invest more than $7.5 million and employ, on average, 140 contractors and local partners. Once open, each store will employ an average of 35 associates, with Wawa expecting to create 2,000 new, long-term new jobs.

Where Wawa Will Open Its First Indiana Locations

The first three Indiana stores are nearing completion and currently set to host Grand Opening events that will include a ribbon cutting and free t-shirts to the first 100 customers.

Thursday, May 15, 2025: Indiana's First Wawa, 16100 W Commerce Road in Daleville.
Thursday, May 22, 2025: 5890 Midland Pointe Boulevard in Noblesville.
Friday, May 30, 2025: 1354 Veterans Parkway in Clarksville.
