USPS Operation Santa 2025 Opens for Letters and Adoptions
Since 1912, the United States Postal Service has allowed caring elves to send gifts directly to children in need. Keep reading to learn how to submit a letter to Santa and his elves.
What Is USPS Operation Santa
The USPS Operation Santa anonymously connects those in need with those who have the giving spirit and the means to help. Many times, the letters are written by children or a member of their family, to ask for the most basic of needs.
Letters are currently being accepted, and the 2025 adoption window will open beginning November 17th for those who wish to give gifts. Personal information is kept private, and adopters do not have access to any information like the address, school, etc, of the letter writer.
Every letter writer’s personally identifiable information (PII) is redacted — last names, addresses, school or community names, etc., are blacked out on the letter that is posted on the USPS Operation Santa® website. The sender of the gift does not know the PII of the letter writer.
