A local nonprofit is stepping up in a big way to support an Evansville police officer and his family following a life-altering injury.

The JD Sheth Foundation is partnering with the Fraternal Order of Police to help fund the purchase of a new, adaptive truck for Officer Sam Taylor, who was shot in the line of duty in September 2025.

The shooting resulted in a T3 spinal cord injury, leaving Taylor paralyzed from the chest down.

A Meeting Focused On Support And The Future

In a recent Facebook post, the JD Sheth Foundation shared details from a meeting held at Evansville Police Department headquarters. Foundation founder Jaimie Sheth met with Officer Taylor alongside Aaron McCormick, president of the local Fraternal Order of Police.

Sheth also had the opportunity to meet Taylor’s wife, Cierra, and their son, making the meeting especially meaningful for everyone involved.

Helping Restore Independence

The goal of the partnership is to fund a truck that can be adapted to meet Officer Taylor’s needs, allowing him to safely travel and regain a greater level of independence in his daily life.

According to the foundation, the adaptive vehicle will help support Taylor’s mobility while easing some of the challenges his family faces as they navigate life after his injury.

How The Community Can Help

The JD Sheth Foundation is encouraging community members who would like to help support Officer Taylor and his family to consider donating.

Donations can be made through the foundation’s website by selecting Donate and then choosing Officer Sam Taylor Support.

The foundation emphasized that community involvement plays a critical role in helping veterans and first responders receive the long-term support they need.
