Super Playful 2-Year-Old Cat Ready for His Forever Home at Indiana Shelter

Usually, "cat season" kicks off in the early spring as expecting cat mothers begin to give birth to their litter of kittens. After a few months of being overwhelmed with the amount of cats that show up at their door, things eventually slow down a bit at the Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS). That's not been the case this year. The shelter is overrun with cats at both its location on the north side of Evansville off First Avenue and at River Kitty Cat Cafe on the Main Street Walkway downtown which means finding homes for them is critical not only because space is needed for new animals coming in, but for the animals themselves who deserve the chance to be part of a loving family. Our Pet of the Week this week is one of those cats. Meet AJ.

AJ's Story

According to the VHS, AJ is a fun-loving two-year-old boy up for adoption at River Kitty Cat Cafe. Unfortunately for him, his former owner had to give him up after their landlord told them they had too many cats and they could not have another one. They say he is currently, "living his best life" at the Cafe on the Main Street Walkway but is hoping he catches the eye of his future home. As you can see from the video above, he is super playful and loves playing with both people and other cats.

His adoption fee is $80. The fee includes his neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations. However, if you wait until sometime between Friday, December 1st, and the 17th, his adoption fee will only be $25 as part of the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelter Event. Of course, by doing that you're taking a gamble that he may already be taken.
