While I personally may not be a major sports fan, I wholeheartedly agree that we should support our amazing high school athletic programs. These programs not only allow students to stay in great physical shape, but they also provide opportunities for learning how to work as a team, face adversity, and build relationships with peers. In essence, they are an essential part of the community when it comes to youth development.

One major corporation is stepping up efforts this fall to raise funds for these programs, and it's not the only thing they're doing for communities. McDonald's has a long history of community involvement, such as with Ronald McDonald House Charities, which has been helping families stay close to their ill children in hospitals since 1974. Additionally, McDonald's has donated more than $33 million to college students through their HACER National Scholarship Program.
