Enjoy Nature and Evansville-Made Maple Syrup at the Maple Sugarbush Festival
The Sugar Shack is once again ready to make some delicious maple syrup straight from the trees of Wesselman Woods!
The Largest Urban Old-Growth Forest
Wesselman Woods is truly a gem located right in the heart of Evansville. But what is unique about Wesselman Woods is that it is considered the largest urban old-growth forest in the United States. Wesselman Woods is known for it's many educational programs, trails, events, and more. One of my personal favorite events that Wesselman Woods hosts every year is the Maple Sugarbush Festival.
The Maple Sugarbush Festival
One of my favorite local events is the Maple Sugarbush Festival that Wesselman Woods hosts every year. It's a fun event where you can see the process of how syrup is made, from the tap in the tree collecting the sap all the way to the sugar shack where it becomes maple syrup. Not only can you see firsthand how it's made, you can also enjoy a delicious stack of pancakes topped with that yummy syrup!
