This is the Best Road Trip in Indiana to Take if You Want to See Stunning Fall Foliage
This road trip winds you through the most scenic views in Southern Indiana.
The Fall Foliage Scenic Route
This is the time of year when the temperatures start cooling down and the leaves start changing color, creating some of the most stunning views that nature has to offer. Many folks like to travel to see the fall foliage, and who wouldn't want to soak up as much foliage as they can when the leaves are changing? Recently, I was looking into road trips to take across Indiana to see some stunning fall colors, because, during this time of year, it's okay to take it slow and enjoy the scenic route. Not to mention the number of photo ops you'll encounter on your journey!
The Ultimate Southern Indiana Fall Foliage Road Trip
Recently I was looking up different scenic road trips to take across the state, and one caught my eye. First of all, this road trip starts in Vincennes and will wind you through miles of Hoosier National Forest before ending on the other side of Louisville. Talk about a road trip that will take you through some of the peak places to view the changing leaves in southern Indiana!
Your Mechanic says that this is one of the most scenic drives in the state, and the best part? It isn't too far from the Tri-State. The entire trip will take you about two and a half hours and across more than 150 miles of gorgeous fall views.
Here is what Your Mechanic has to say about this particular road trip:
Cutting through the Hoosier National Forest and past numerous sites of historic interest, the South Spur of this scenic drive is a nice way to spend a day and explore the region. Hike some of the many forest trails, and consider checking out Potts Creek Rockshelter Archeological Site, where Archaic, Woodland, and Paleo-Indian Indians once set up camp. In New Albany, the historic downtown is full of specialty shops to browse.
With this drive cutting through Hoosier National Forest you'll have a front-seat view (pun intended) to gorgeous fall foliage. If you want to take this specific road trip you can see the map with directions, here.
